Arborist Sales Representative

The ideal candidate will:

  • be an ISA Certified Arborist
  • have a degree in forestry, arboriculture or related field
  • have at least 5 years experience in the field of arboriculture
  • have above average computer skills
  • have a good driver’s license record (Class B Commercial Driver’s License a plus)
  • have above average knowledge of tree id, tree diseases and insect id
  • be an outstanding Safety Model Employee

Responsibilities:

  • reports directly to Sales Manager but assists Branch Manager with office administration
  • monitors and obtains sales goals based on historical sales numbers in given territory
  • prepares handwritten proposals and computer generated proposals

Experienced Tree Climber

The ideal candidate will:

  • have 3-5 years experience in the tree care industry climbing trees
  • have or be capable of obtaining the ISA Certified Arborist certification
  • be very familiar with industry ANSI standards in climber safety and pruning
  • must have a valid VA Driver’s License, a good driving record and willing to obtain Class “B” CDL License
  • be able to effectively communicate with management/crew members/clients
  • be willing to demonstrate basic climbing skills during interview process
  • be willing to undertake a pre-employment physical examination to determine the suitability for this job
  • be required to obtain First-Aid and CPR training within 30 days of being hired

The following are qualifications held by an ideal candidate. If you fit some, but not all of the qualifications and have a true passion for trees and plants, are a quick learner, and want to be a part of an educated team whose purpose is growing and protecting Richmond’s urban forest (and landscape!), then we would love to have your application.

The ideal candidate will:

  • have advanced skills in identifying plants and pest problems and the knowledge to select the most appropriate products and/or treatments.
  • be able to communicate effectively with clients and management to maintain excellent customer relations.
  • be familiar with industry ANSI standards.
  • have above average computer skills.
  • be willing and able to become an ISA certified arborist within 4 months of employment.
  • be willing and able to become a VNLA certified horticulturalist within the first 12 months of employment.
  • have the appropriate VA Pesticide Applicator License, or ability to obtain.
  • have a 2 or 4 year degree in related field.
  • have a valid driver’s license.
  • be able to work independently and be self-directed.
  • have a proven record to set and achieve goals and the ability to be a team player.

In the summer season (March-October), job duties/activities will include but are not limited to:

  • spraying and scouting for landscape insect and disease issues throughout the Richmond area.
  • safely mixing chemicals for treatments.
  • preparing the spray rig for winter.
  • working long hours when necessary, during the summer season (March-August).
  • being in close contact with, and explaining treatment options and methods to our clients, both old and new.
  • may, on occasion, contact poison ivy.

In the off season (November-February), a qualified spray tech will most likely help the Ornamental Pruning crew. Duties for our fine pruning crew include but are not limited to:

  • occasionally working atop a 12′-14′ orchard ladder.
  • pruning hedges with gas-powered hedge shears.
  • being willing and able to climb small trees (below 50 feet) for pruning or occasionally removal purposes.
  • in storm situations, Ornamental Pruning employees may be needed for emergency storm damage tree work, and snow removal in the winters.
  • be able to efficiently back a large truck and chipper or trailer into tight spaces/driveways.
  • be able to use a chainsaw for ground work and on occasion, aerial work.

Tree Climber Trainee

The ideal candidate will:

  • no previous experience in tree care required
  • have a strong desire to work in tree care industry climbing trees
  • must have a valid VA Driver’s License, a good driving record and willing to obtain Class”A” CDL License
  • be able to communicate effectively with management/crew members/clients
  • be willing to work safely, work as a team player, and work hard
  • be willing to undertake a pre-employment physical examination to determine suitability for job
  • be required to obtain first-aid and CPR training within 30 days of hire date

Crew Leader/Climber for Ornamental Pruning Program

Truetimber is currently searching for a Crew Leader who loves working with ornamental trees and shrubs and will maintain good long term relationships with our valuable clients.

The ideal candidate will:

  • be capable of training and managing ornamental pruning crew.
  • be able to work independently and be self-directed.
  • have above average computer skills.
  • be able to communicate effectively with clients and management to maintain excellent customer relations.
  • be experience with all applicable ANSI standards in arboriculture.
  • be willing and able to become an ISA certified arborist within 4 months of employment.
  • be willing and able to become a VNLA certified horticulturalist within the first 12 months of employment.
  • have excellent identification skills of both trees and woody ornamentals for the basis of proper pruning.
  • have an expert knowledge of proper boxwood and crapemyrtle pruning.
  • must have a valid VA driver’s license and be willing to obtain Class “B” CDL license.
  • have at least 2 years of experience in the tree care industry pruning trees of all sizes.
  • have a proven track record to set and achieve goals and the ability to be a team player.
  • be willing to demonstrate basic climbing skills during interview process.
